Fans of the Korean show Crash Landing on You, as well as hikers and tourists staying in the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland, often visit this place.

One of the best things to do in Iseltwald is to take the boat to or from Iseltwald. It is a scenic way to travel while admiring the views of the snow-capped mountains, lush forests, and charming villages around Lake Brienz.

You can take the boat from Interlaken Ost to the direction of Brienz. This boat will stop in Bönigen (and sometimes also Ringgenberg) before heading to Iseltwald. Please take note that the boat does not leave every hour.

One the the most popular things to do in Iseltwald is to go on a hike to Giessbach Waterfalls. The Giessbach Waterfalls is a popular destination that can be reached from Iseltwald. The hike starts by hiking along Lake Brienz before entering a forested area. It ends in Giessbach where you can ride the funicular, see the Grandhotel Giessbach, and see the mighty waterfalls cascading down. Apart from Giessbach Waterfalls, there are two more waterfalls close by that you can hike to. One is Eschwanden Waterfall, accessible through the Fura hamlet using hiking route 360. The other is Mülibachfall Waterfall, situated above Iseltwald.

One of the most enjoyable things to do in Iseltwald is to bike from Spiez along routes 8 or 9. This bike tour begins in Spiez and then goes via Faulensee, Därligen, Interlaken, Bönigen, and Sengg before reaching Iseltwald. The cycle path starting Bönigen runs along the shady lakeside and is away from motor traffic.

From Iseltwald, you may decide to bike further to Meiringen. Before reaching the Hasli Valley, the bike route goes to Hohflue, Giessbach, Engi, Brienz, and Unterbach. Along the way, you might want to stop in Giessbach Falls and the charming village of Brienz.

There’s a local spot called Strandbad Iseltwald that is open from May to September, where you can have a relaxing and refreshing swim. A fantastic but not well-known thing to do in Iseltwald is hiking to the amazing Senggflue Viewpoint. It only takes a quick 45-minute hike from Iseltwald village to reach it but the views are amazing.

All you need to do is to follow the road toward the Iseltwald ship station. Once you see the signpost showing Senggflue, you can follow it. Along the way, you will see the lakeshore, a small bridge, charming chalets, and streams. The trail ends near the former hotel of Hotel Schweizerhof where you are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Iseltwald and Lake Brienz.

If you do not wish to hike, bike, or swim, you may also choose to stroll around the village of Iseltwald. While walking, you get to see fantastic views of Lake Brienz with its crystal-clear waters and surrounding mountains. The village is small and also has its appeal. 8. Rent a Hot Tub Boat

One of the enjoyable things to do in Iseltwald is renting a HotTug, a hot tub boat. You can rent it for 2 hours (approximately 1.5 hours for your ride and 30 minutes for instructions). This special tub floats on Lake Brienz, filled with warm 38-degree water.

You can steer it around the lake, and there’s a wood-fired heater onboard to keep the water warm throughout your journey. It’s suitable for up to 6 people and sets off from Iseltwald for a relaxing time on the water. You can also rent a regular motorboat or a two-seater swan pedalo at the boat rental place.

How to Get to Iseltwald, Switzerland

There is no train station in Iseltwald but you can reach it by bus or boat.

The bus ride to Iseltwald takes 29 to 33 minutes from Interlaken West and 21 to 25 minutes from Interlaken Ost.

If you would rather come by boat, you can take it from Interlaken Ost (See). The boat will bring you to Iseltwald (See) in 44 minutes.

Although you can go to Iseltwald all year round, the best time to go is in summer when it’s warm enough to swim. For those who like colder water, you can go in late spring or early autumn.

Some snow might be left on the peaks in early spring depending on the snowfall during winter. You can also come in autumn if you like fall colors.
