The quickest and most convenient way to get from Interlaken to St. Beatus Caves is to ride the bus.

  1. In Interlaken Ost or Interlaken West, ride Bus 21 going to Thun, Bahnhof.
  2. Exit the bus at the Beatushöhlen stop.
  3. From the bus stop, you have to walk up to St. Beatus Caves (around 2 minutes).

The bus ride to St. Beatus Caves takes 16 minutes from Interlaken West and 24 minutes from Interlaken Ost.

How to Get from Interlaken to St. Beatus Caves By Boat

Taking the boat from Interlaken to St. Beatus Caves is the most scenic way to travel. The boat doesn’t leave every hour, though. Check the timetable to see when it leaves.

You should take the boat if you can. It only takes a little longer than taking the bus, but it is much more scenic and relaxing. There will be a bit of walking involved in getting to the caves from the ferry stop.

Interlaken West is the easiest place to start your boat trip to St. Beatus Caves. Take the boat from Interlaken West heading to Thun. After 33 minutes, this boat will stop in Beatushöhlen.

The most scenic way to get from Interlaken to St. Beatus Caves is to ride the boat.

  1. In Interlaken West, ride the boat going to Thun (See).
  2. Exit the boat at the Beatushöhlen-Sundlauenen stop.
  3. From the ferry stop, you have to walk up to St. Beatus Caves (around 20 minutes).

St. Beatus Caves is accessible by boat two to five times a day from Brienz depending on the season. You can find the boat schedule on I highly recommend taking the boat if you have enough time. You can also opt to take the scenic route going to St. Beatus Caves and the bus on your way back.

Near the caves are two parking lots. These are located along Seestrasse, 3800 Sundlauenen. We found it difficult to get a parking spot because of the high number of visitors.
