  • BrotEgge Bakery (Rawilstrasse 18, 3775 Lenk) – Also run by the Kuhnen family, you can enjoy delicious coffee and tasty sweets in this bakery in the middle of the village.

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of the Obersimmental-Saanen region, these magical waterfalls cascade down the Rezliberg above Lenk, offering a serene escape.

With more than 2,800 liters of water flowing through seven different springs every second during the summer months, it’s truly a sight to behold.

To reach the Sibe Brünne, you’ll embark on a short, uphill hike from Simmen Falls, offering easy access while avoiding overcrowded tourist spots. Along the way, you’ll encounter the Simmen Waterfalls, where the powerful rush of water from the Simme River sets the tone for your journey.

Continuing on the path towards Regenboldshorn, you’ll eventually arrive at Rezliberg Alp, home to the majestic Sibe Brünne.

Having spent several days in Lenk im Simmental, we explored various destinations. Although my top pick would be Sibe Brünne, there are other beautiful places to visit in the region.

Here is a list of the best hikes in Lenk im Simmental:

  • Lenkerseeli Lake (easy) – The Lenkerseeli, nestled close to the village, offers tranquility and breathtaking views across the lake, making it a charming destination in every season. Whether walking around the lake in summer or gliding across its surface on cross-country skis in winter, visitors can immerse themselves in nature and enjoy the serene atmosphere, surrounded by picturesque mountain scenery. Next to Lenkerseeli is also one of the most beautiful alpine playgrounds I’ve ever seen in Switzerland.
  • Marmot Trail (easy, family-friendly) – The Murmeli Trail offers an educational experience from Leiterli to Stoss, covering 3 kilometers. Explore the marmot habitat, enjoy interactive stations, and grab a snack at Berghaus Stoss. Suitable for all-terrain pushchairs, the trail takes 1-1.5 hours, with rangers available and a barbecue area provided. Check Betelberg gondola times.
  • Gryden High-Altitude Route (easy to moderate) – The Gryden Trail at Betelberg offers a captivating journey through stunning landscapes, starting from the Leiterli Mountain Station and spanning 7.5 kilometers. Along the way, hikers can explore the unique geological formations of Gryden, enjoy panoramic views of the Alps, and discover the rich biodiversity of the region.
  • Lenk to Simmenfalls (easy, winter) – The 5.2-kilometer winter hike in Lenk follows the flat valley floor alongside the young Simme, passing Lenkerseelein, known for rarely freezing even in harsh winters. Marked by yellow hiking trails with snowman symbols, it showcases diverse winter water forms, from powdery snow to delicate frost crystals. After walking through Klöpflisberg Nature Reserve and enjoying views of Wildstrubel, the hike ends at Hotel Simmenfälle. or via a new winter trail through Sumpfbach, Rothenbach, and KUSPO, based on snow conditions.

  2. Cross-country skiing – In Lenk im Simmental, you’ll discover 36 kilometers of cross-country skiing trails, while up on Betelberg at 1800 meters above sea level, there are 6 kilometers of cross-country skiing available at this elevated spot.
  3. Sledding – With seven designated areas across the region, visitors can enjoy a variety of sledding adventures, from high-speed descents through forested slopes to exhilarating rides down into the valleys. Toboggan runs can be found between Sillerenbühl and Bergläger, Tschentenalp and Engstligenalp.
  4. Snowshoeing and winter hiking – Winter hiking and snowshoeing in Lenk im Simmental offer stunning vistas and tranquil walks on 8 kilometers of well-groomed trails, with 2 kilometers illuminated until 11 p.m. Jaunpass boasts remarkable winter hiking trails amidst breathtaking mountain scenery. How to Get to Lenk im Simmental

Lenk im Simmental is easily accessible by car or train. If you’re arriving from abroad, I suggest choosing Zurich Airport to reach Switzerland—it’s closer and simpler.

To get to Lenk im Simmental from Zurich, you can hop on one of the trains to Bern. In Bern, change to the connecting train to Zweisimmen. From Zweisimmen, regional trains will bring you to Lenk im Simmental. The train station in Lenk im Simmental is conveniently located in the town center, making it easy to get around without a car.

Lenk im Simmental may not be as large as Zermatt or Verbier, but it certainly is extremely charming. Lenk im Simmental is a fantastic mountain resort that offers an array of hiking trails, panoramic views, skiing opportunities, and various outdoor activities.

Given this, I strongly suggest planning your visit when the weather is favorable, as it will not be as enjoyable during bad weather conditions.
