Foroglio, Ticino

Zurich to Foroglio

There aren’t many train and bus connections between Zurich and Foroglio. That means you’ll have to get to Ticino early or stay in Ticino overnight. If you intend to stay in Ticino overnight, you can begin your journey later in the day.

If you’re thinking of a day trip to Foroglio from Zurich, make sure to plan your trip carefully. That’s because there aren’t many public transportation options, and buses don’t operate around the clock. Before you go, double-check with SBB to ensure your trip is feasible.

Don’t stress about seeing everything—it’s a small village that you can explore in just an hour. Even if it’s a day trip, you’ll have ample time to see all of it.

Important: Please check if buses are running on sbb.ch before you leave. Between November and late March, I can’t seem to find any buses on schedule (as checked in December 2023).

To get from Zurich to Foroglio, you will have to take the following route (as of December 2023):

  2. In Arth-Goldau, take the train to Bellinzona.
  3. In Bellinzona, take the regional train to Locarno.
  4. In Locarno, take the bus that goes to Bignasco, Posta.
  5. In Bignasco, take the bus that goes to S. Carlo (Bavona), Funivia. Get off in Foroglio (Bavona).
